Other than Clapham Woods supposedly foreboding reputation, I knew nothing of this site. To be quite honest, the first I even heard of it was when Johan put it forward as a good place to investigate. I made sure I remained ignorant of its history, preferring to enter the site ‘blind’. It can take a while for me to ‘adjust’ to a new environment, and after a few minutes – I picked up on distressed female and the name ‘Jillian’. No images, just her essence. I found it quite difficult to lock onto her, and she ‘faded’ away quite easily. She was definitely confused and upset. I felt so sorry for her. Moving on into the woods, we headed west. Pretty much as soon as we hit the path, the name ‘Peter’ came into my head. No apparition, this was definitely left over from some past event, with what ever misunderstood mechanism that exists causing the emotions to be likely forever trapped within the environment of the woods. As we walked, more information emerged: A connection with the police force and the feeling of being hopelessly lost Again, not pleasant albeit slightly surprising as the part of the woods we were in is obviously not far at all from civilisation. When we came to an old memorial bench at a fork in the path, poor Jillian decided to drop in again (I suspect she never actually went away). She seemed more forth-coming this time. It was quite clear to me that Jillian wanted people to know that she did not take her own life. She had been assaulted and raped, by someone she knew. But ultimately killed by an accomplice. I cannot convey to you her feelings, nor would I want to as I cannot even come close to giving them justice. She was obviously traumatised by this sickening betrayal. As we moved along the path (with its varying degrees mud and water), we entered and crossed an unkempt field. The frost made a most satisfying crunch as we traversed it. The name ‘Leon’ came into my thoughts. Again, no apparition. This time just a name, form a relatively recent time. We eventually entered the back of St. Mary’s Church. As mentioned before, this church really generates a lovely feeling! Truly very peaceful and serene. Not at all in tune with anything unpleasant. Having made friends with the (presumably) church’s cat, who then decided to follow us, we returned to the spot we had previously started at. Clare mentioned she had a slight headache, and Tammy managed some to take some interesting photos. Other than that, nothing else happened, so it was back to the car. I have to say, I found Clapham Woods to be the most pleasant and unassuming site to date! There was no evil here. Of course, poor Jillian was brutally murdered here, and I most certainly do not want to in any way belittle that. Quite the opposite. Tammy had brought along some history of the site, and it was nice to get some confirmation of what I picked up. Though at the same time, very sad that it confirmed the tragic events conveyed to me. I think it is because these events happened so recently, they were so clear to me. Still, we were all very glad to get back into the car and out of the cold.
