Nath arrived at my house for 7 pm, we then made our way to collect Clare, before moving on to collect Tammy in Shoreham, leaving at just after 8 pm. We made our way through the town of Arundel and up towards the London Road where St Mary’s Gate Inn is located, we arrived there for approx 830 pm. We were greeted at the bar by Mr Terry Bedford’s wife who kindly booked us into Room 6 (Oliver Cromwell’s Room). We collected all our equipment from the car and made our way up the stairs. It was great to have an area where we could setup our camcorder, ready for our investigation later on that night. After I had finished setting up the last Camcorder we made our way down to the bar area to have some of the lovely food, which is served in this great Inn. We acknowledged Terry who came over and sat at our table to discuss what we intended to do that evening, which was to hold vigils at various locations. We had decided to stay a few hours after closing time, rather than stay the full night. After we had all finished our excellent meal, which really set everyone up for the evening a. We went back upstairs as closing time was now approaching, we started to deploy our camcorders mounted on tripods to the locations we had chosen to investigate. We started our investigation just after 11 pm. We held vigils at the following locations at St Mary’s Gate Inn. We must also mention we did have a look at room 7, as Terry had mentioned that someone who had stayed there mentioned they thought there was a presence in this room.

Photo’s: None Comments: Nath picked up the name Serena Whitethistle mid twenty’s. SPI have so far not found any such person connected with St Mary’s Gate Inn .

Time:22:20 EMF Meter: No Fields Thermometer: 20 Degrees Negative Ion Detector: No readings. EVP: Yes nothing captured. Video Camera Footage: When the camcorder was left unattended three separate banging noises were recorded from within the room itself, along with a shooting orb which came from the door way. Nathan was filmed when the entity seemed to talk through him.We filmed some footage of Clare getting some sort of response when using a dowsing crystal. Photo’s: Orb photo captured above door. Comments: The Negative Ion Detector seemed to malfunction during the investigation almost as if there had been a battery drain , but it had a fresh battery to start with. I can honestly say it has functioned flawlessly in all other investigations. The camcorder itself suffered significant battery drain during the investigation along with Tammy’s camcorder equalling loosing power quickly even though all fully charged to start with. Nath had an entity who talked through him and came towards the rest of the team. We also caught a camcorder still of Nath back emanating some sort of energy.

Time:01.30 EMF Meter: No fields Thermometer: 21 Degrees EVP: No evp due to localised noise. Photo’s: None Comments: Nath saw an elderly man in his 70’s in a chair under the TV with a white / grey beard watching us.Camcorder still taken of a very strange figure! Conclusion: We think their can be no doubt about Oliver Cromwell’s Room 6 is very active , and this may explain why the guests who stay in this room , seem to experience various paranormal phenomena . I believe we experienced some when we carried out our investigation in this room. Nath had the entity speak through him . It was pretty obviously it did not like our presence or camcorders filming it ! We think something very traumatic must have occurred there in the distance past perhaps a murder or killing. It all seems to come from the doorway of the room. We think there maybe poltergeist activity in the room from the banging noises we captured, when the room was left locked and unattended. The Cellar perhaps in day’s gone by could have been used to store bodies , as most towns used the local Inn for this , and the fact Nath was able to pickup on this , but we have been unable to verify or document this officially. We think St Mary’s Gate Inn is a fascinating location and worthy of a possible reinvestigation perhaps in the future as the investigation into this property is far from over. Comments from our investigators Nath: Very pleasant pub with one, decidedly chilling room. Definitely warrants a return visit. Tammy: What a great Investigation!! Can’t thank Terry & all the staff at this location enough for making us feel so welcome, I found it a truly fascinating place to be, a tricky one to look into on the history side, but I’m so pleased we got the opportunity, I found Room 6 an eerie place to be compared to the rest of the building, every time we went in or passed this particular room you can feel the difference to the rest of the building, I felt we were being watched all over this location :o) Would love to come back in the future . Clare: This is a very interesting location! I tried to communicate with the entity in room 6 by the use of a pendulum and got some very strong responses to my questioning. At this moment I had goose bumps all over me and the hairs on my arms where standing up almost straight! Considering the temperature in the room was 20C this is very odd. I would love to go back and ask further questions and try to get some responses to tapping. Again thank you to Terry and his wife – you have such a great place here. Johan: I think St Mary’s Gate Inn is a great location and I think Room 6 was extremely active. I would love to go back to this warm and friendly Inn in the future .I would like to personally give Mr Terry Bedford and his wife a big thank you for allowing us to carryout an investigation.
