I’m Clare, I’m 33, work for the emergency services and live in Brighton.I have as long as I can remember been fascinated by ghosts and the paranormal and my family and I have had a few ghostly experiences.
The first happened when I was a baby and I therefore don't remember it, however my parents have recalled it time and time again for me. It was at our house in Trafalgar Road, Portslade. Mum had always reported a funny smell which she could never get rid of. The dog always acted strangely in my room and I never settled properly in there. One night my Dad awoke and half asleep saw what he believed to be my mum tending to me over the cot, he rolled over and mum was asleep beside him in bed! (He isn't the type of man to believe either)

Our next house in Winfield Close, Mile Oak did not disappoint either. On 2 separate occasions my Dad got up went to work and all was fine. My Mum then got up and noticed blood on the landing hall and the 2nd time in the kitchen sink - neither time had Dad cut or injured himself before leaving work. We just could not explain it.

At our next address in Rowan Close, Portslade I was on my own in the house, my parents were away on holiday. I was standing in the kitchen and about 5 feet away from me were some cupboards, on top of which my Mum kept the lunch boxes and directly below a worktop. I heard something move and thought they were just a bit unbalanced but one then flew at me landing beside me on the kitchen floor. If it had unbalanced it would have fallen down hitting the worktop, but this cleared the worktop, just missing me, travelling some 5 feet!
Another time at this address I have been sat in the lounge with my family also in the same room. The lounge door was shut, for some reason I looked at the door to see the door handle turn and the door open but for no-one to walk in...........
I've also turned lights off, for them to turn on again.

And when I was about 13 at a friends house we decided to do a Ouija board and on asking "the spirits" to give us a sign, a basket full of smellies was dutifully plonked in my friends lap, our hands were positioned over the Ouija board and the basket on top of a stereo positioned behind a plastic "bump" on the stereo cover - anyone trying to knock it off would have had to of cleared the bump without spilling the contents, this would have been impossible.

At a friends house the other month her lights started to flicker, we changed them to the main light in the middle of the room and again that flickered. I then joked it was a spirit and said if it was it would do 2 flickers for yes and 1 for no. I asked a question about my friends work and it flickered twice. We fell about laughing out of shock and the lights went mad, flickering several times before not doing it again for the rest of the evening - I think we may of upset someone for laughing.

Shortly after I joined a Paranormal group on Facebook I tried to email Johan but it took some trying! It was as if something had possessed my keyboard and was overriding everything I was writing with x's. The x key was not stuck down and it had never happened before but every time I let go of a key it would continue with xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. This did stop after a while and didn't happen again.

I am looking forward to experiencing further paranormal phenomenon and am excited to be a part of Sussex Paranormal Investigators.
